Painted Eye

The runways, extreme as ever, showed two predominant styles: pale neutral naturals and powerful bursts of punk.  Eyes are Elizabethan bare and gorgeously gilded or fantastically colored in vibrant hues. There’s no “in between” in autumn/winter 2008.

Foundation is a lighter shade of pale. The luminous look is achieved with  face powders, cheeks barely flushed,  shimmering shadows and lips that are either soft  natural beige or unsettlingly dark -- a black-red reminiscent of Japanese slasher films.

If the eyes pop with color, the lips are muted. And dramatic lips call for underplayed eyes.

Hair is softer and straight with updoes loose and relaxed, paying homage to Brigitte Bardot and Grace Kelly with sexy sophistication.
