Yarnmarket.com and TKGA present Knitting Pattern Design Contest
Knitting pattern designers can win up to $1,000 in prizes.
PICKERINGTON, OH, December 1, 2008 – Yarnmarket.com and The Knitting Guild Association announce the launch of the 2009 TKGA Design Contest. This competition for knitters will award prizes in several categories, with the grand prize pattern winning a $1,000 gift certificate for Yarnmarket.com.
The contest requires that knitters submit photos of original designs by March 11, 2009 for preliminary selection. Finalists will then be asked to provide the actual sample to be displayed at the TKGA National Conference/Knit & Crochet Show in Portland, Oregon, May 14-17, 2009. Winners will be announced at the show.
Categories for the contest are: Women’s Fashion Classic, Women’s Fashion Forward, Men’s Wear, Children’s Fashion, Baby’s Fashion, and Accessories. First, second and third prizes are Yarnmarket gift certificates worth $300, $200 and $100 respectively. The $1,000 gift certificate grand prize will be awarded based on design appeal, use of stitches, color and selection of materials, and other qualities determined by a team of judges that includes Sandy Blue of Westminster Fibers.

Yarnmarket.com will produce the winning patterns, and may also purchase other entries that they believe will appeal to their audience of knitters throughout the world.

TKGA represents 10,000 knitters in the United States and around the world. They sponsor the TKGA Conferences in conjunction with Knit & Crochet Shows that occur twice each year. The upcoming TKGA National Conference will attract over 3,000 knitters and crocheters who attend to take knitting and crochet classes as well as presentations by designers and manufacturers, and other activities of interest to yarn enthusiasts.
